Mount Pupils Celebrate Outstanding GCSE Results


 
Pupils at The Mount School York are celebrating outstanding success at GCSE with 32% of GCSE grades awarded at 8/9 grades (A*). Overall, 54% of the grades were 7-9 (A/A*) with 40% of girls gaining at least three 8/9 s and 50% of girls achieving at least five grades at 7-9.  
 

Every single pupil achieved at least six GCSE grades at grade 5 and 75% of grades were 6 or above. Principal, David Griffiths, congratulated the Senior School pupils on their hard work and well-deserved success: 

“I am delighted by the outstanding GCSE results received today. The hard work and dedication of the girls is truly commendable, and their remarkable achievement is well deserved. This year’s GCSE results at The Mount School have demonstrated a consistent upward trajectory, bucking the national trend. This reflects the commitment and resilience of both our pupils and staff. 

I am immensely proud, not only of the pupils’ exceptional academic achievements, but also of the unwavering dedication, resilience, and personal growth they have demonstrated beyond the classroom. Within this year group, we have a myriad of talented individuals – from skilled dancers, accomplished jockeys, and exceptional athletes to confident public speakers and gifted artists. These achievements encompass the essence of the holistic all-round education we are proud to provide at The Mount.” 

The all-girl Quaker School’s success is driven by the integration of innovative teaching, the confidence gained in an all-girl environment, and a calm and nurturing learning atmosphere. Every single girl at The Mount achieved at least one 7 (A) or above – the perfect preparation for A Levels.  

A range of subjects earned fantastic results with 7s/8s/9s reaching 100% of grades in Art, Astronomy, Drama and Latin, 80% of grades in Geography and 73% of grades in English Language.  

The Mount champions all subjects equally, girls confidently explore subjects that interest them, free from gender stereotypes. A bespoke curriculum is tailored to inspire and encourage girls’ own love of learning. 100% pass rates came in Biology, Chemistry, French, German, Geography, Physics, Religious Studies, Science Trilogy, Physical Education, Latin, Art, Astronomy, Design and Technology, English Language, Chinese First Language, Drama and Music. 

Jo Goudriaan, Head of The Mount’s Sixth Form College adds, “I congratulate all those pupils who have achieved their personal targets at GCSE, and I look forward to welcoming them to our Sixth Form College to build on this excellent foundation for A level studies.”
