Award-Winning Mount Girls Shine at Model United Nations Conference

This week The Mount’s Model United Nations Club travelled to Bootham School to take part in a fascinating conference based on ‘Justice and Reconciliation.’
Nine Mount girls represented the countries of Russia and South Africa as delegates in their committees and debated their prepared resolutions on human rights issues, for example, from the perspective of their country.
Carlotta as the delegate of Russia read out her resolution and proudly won the Best Delegate Award!
Carlotta was nervous of public speaking ahead of the event but, afterwards, said: “I am very proud of myself, and it showed me that if I overcome my fears and stop questioning if I am good enough, I can achieve personal excellence.”
Mount History Teacher, Miss Abbey, said: “I am very proud of the girls, for most of them this was the first time they were part of the MUN conference. They all spoke very well and put a lot of work into their resolutions and research. Especially well done to Carlotta on her super award!”
New to MUN, this gave them the opportunity how a Model United Nations Conference runs which will set them up well for the annual conference in Bath in March 2026.
Mount Girls and their MUN conference roles and responsibilities:
1st Disarmament and International Security Committee (DISEC) – Izzy, Anabel, Zoe
