Mount Boarders Painted the Town Neon to Raise Money for Cancer Charity

Our Mount boarding community enjoyed a wonderful ‘glow in the dark’ evening of bonding and fitness whilst raising money for an important local cancer charity, St Leonard’s Hospice.

A ‘glow’ themed moonlight walk between 7pm and midnight last Saturday made for a lovely evening enjoying the beautiful, historical sites of York in a 7-mile circular route.

Each boarder sported a charity T-shirt and decorated their faces and clothes with glow-in-the-dark make up and stickers.

There was live entertainment before the walk set off in the form of live music from Tri-Starrs and hosting from YO1 Radio. Boarders sat on hay bales, and took part in fun warm-up games to get them in the walking zone!

Sweets and hot drinks were available from stalls en route and boarders were greeted at the end with delicious bacon (or plant-free alternative) sandwiches for a job well done.

Mrs Nia Passmore, Head of Boarding, said:

“What a wonderful evening of fun and fundraising. It’s delightful to see our new boarders settling in so well and getting to know everybody. That night we created lifelong memories for all who took part in aid of this essential local charity.”

A spokesperson from St Leonard’s Hospice, said:

“Our famous night walk was back again! Every year the walkers’ enthusiasm and energy truly shines across the streets of York for our iconic Moonlight Walk.”
