Shropshire Tour & Sports Report

Last weekend, a contingent of 26 girls went on a fantastic Y7-Y9 Netball tour to Shropshire.

As well as meeting Commonwealth Games champion and England Netball player Eboni Chambers (pictured below with the girls), the girls were able to hone their on-court skills and off-court general fitness training.

Year 7 girls played two excellent games, narrowly missing out on a semi-final place on goal-difference.

Year 8s played ten teams, making it to the semi-finals where they lost to a very strong side from Latymer.

Year 9s won three games and came fifth overall.

Netball aside, the girls enjoyed an amazing trip which included climbing, aerial walk, trapeze, tunnelling, laser maze, silent disco and loud disco.

The next Netball tour, to Belfast, takes place during the Easter Break.

U13 girls played in the York District Schools’ Tournament where they played incredibly well, beating the team which took second place overall.

Earlier in the month, the U14s and U15s returned from Read School with a double win under their belts. U13s and the U15s had also won very competitive matches against Fulford School.

Libby’s Biathlon Best

Congratulations Libby (Y7) who competed in the National Schools Biathlon Championships last weekend in the U12 division. She came 47th in the UK, ran a personal best of 2.58 in the 800m and improved her swim time as well in the 50m sprint.

Libby had qualified for the national finals last October, when she competed in the County Level championships, coming 1st in the U12 girls’ run and swim events.

The National event at Crystal Palace saw all qualifying athletes from counties across the UK gathered for the competition, and Libby competed against 150 other qualifying athletes in her age group, finishing in the top third. This excellent result reflects her hard work and commitment to her swimming and running.

Swimming

Congratulations to our Swimming squad who enjoyed a very competitive meet against Bootham, which they won 121-117. Well done, girls!
