Alumnae Offer University Advice to MedSoc

We were delighted to welcome back to The Mount Kiri Armstrong and Flora Smith (both 2016 alumnae) on Tuesday. Kiri is in her final year of medical school at Cardiff University and Flora is the National Trust‘s Project Manager, having studied a joint History and Geography degree at Loughborough University.

The girls enjoyed chatting with their former teachers, a tour of the school and meeting David Griffiths. Over lunch, they met with the school’s Medical Society for Kiri to give a presentation about all aspects of medical school – applying, studying, organisation, choosing your speciality, and so on. Kiri and Flora also talked about university life in general, and gave the College girls very useful advice for overcoming first-year jitters. One of the College girls has applied to Cardiff and Kiri was more than happy to give practical advice on applying for halls.

Reflecting on their own first-year jitters, Flora and Kiri offered that other Old Scholars would be only too happy to speak with College Leavers who are going to study at their alma mater. That helpful advice is being implemented for this year’s Leavers (and for Leavers who are currently on a gap year) to connect with Old Scholars for orientation and practical advice as they start life at university.
