Fraud Blocker

The Mount Sixth Form is about more than just results, we enrich our pupil’s school days through our daily Enrichment Programme.  The programme is designed to be enjoyable but to also, challenge the way students think, increase their confidence and to encourage them to make a positive contribution to our world.

College Specials

During Sixth Form girls attend a series of weekly lectures called College Specials.  These may be interactive workshops or presentations designed to enhance the curriculum and inspire our students. Sessions may cover careers and universities or wider outside school issues designed to expand our pupil’s knowledge of the world around them.

From achieving first aid qualifications to learning about budgeting and financial safety, and from hearing first-hand experiences of Human Rights Defenders to developing sporting technique, there is a rich and varied programme designed to broaden girls’ thinking and widen their horizons.

We welcome a strong network of external speakers, including Mount Alumni, lecturers from high profile universities and speakers from a variety of different career paths. Pupils are encouraged to contribute to the planning of the programme to ensure the topics covered are interesting and relevant to them.

Activities & Trips

As throughout School, The Mount offers a wide range of after-school and lunchtime activities for our Sixth Form students. These include Drama, Theatre, Film Clubs, STEM Science Clubs, Debating Society, Model United Nations Conferences, Language Clubs, The Prince’s Trust, Dance and Music activities, Gold Duke of Edinburgh, Coding and Robotics and a wide range of Sports clubs including Tag Rugby and more. The list of activities is constantly evolving to suit the girls’ interests and needs. Sixth Form students are encouraged to get involved with preparing and organising of activities for the younger students.

Girls in the Sixth Form will also have the opportunity to participate in trips and expeditions. This could be part of their academic study, including theatre visits for English and Drama students or field trips for Biology and Geography students.  Sixth Form Girls also have the opportunity to travel on sports tours, our annual ski trip or our biannual expedition to Namibia. Recent destinations have included Greece, Berlin, Italy and Iceland.

Games & Sports

As part of a full Sixth Form life we believe it is important that our girls continue to take part in sports and enjoy the physical and psychological benefits this provides. A busy time in Sixth Form can be happily off-set by an hour or two on the hockey pitch! Sports teams and fixtures continuel through the Sixth Form where the 1st teams will compete in Netball, Hockey, Tennis and Swimming.  There are also less competitive and more recreational options available including Metafit, use of the fitness suite, Yoga, Badminton, Volleyball, Rounders, Basketball and Table Tennis.  There is also the opportunity to qualify as a professional lifeguard as the NPLQ qualification is taught during College Games.

Volunteering in the Community

Every member of Sixth Form is encouraged to volunteer. The giving of one’s time to the community is of great benefit to all. Mount girls volunteer many hours to help others and there is plenty of scope without even leaving School, for example taking part in our Charities Club, mentoring younger pupils or assisting in Junior School lessons. There are plenty of opportunities to get involved in School-led initiatives as well as personalised programmes which can help with career opportunities after Sixth Form.

Leadership Roles

As a senior member of the school community girls in the Sixth Form have the opportunity to take on responsibilities that will develop their management and leadership skills. Opportunities for pupils to use their initiative, work as part of a team or to take charge include being part of the Head Girl teams,  Captains of sports team, mentoring younger girls or running clubs and activities. Leadership roles prepare students with experiences valuable when entering the world of work.
