The Mount is Proud to Have ‘Met All Areas’ in ISI Inspection

The Mount School York is proud to announce all standards have been met following our Independent School Inspection (ISI) visit in January 2025.
Under the new ISI framework, inspectors evaluate whether a school meets the Independent Schools Standards and no longer provide a one-word judgement such as excellent or good.
During the January process, inspectors met with pupils, staff and governors, saw areas of school and reviewed policies. Inspectors commented that:
New Head of The Mount School, Anna Wilby, said:
“Everyone at The Mount is thrilled to share the excellent results of our recent inspection. The Mount has been confirmed as a safe and secure environment where pupils confidently engage with our expert staff, and their wellbeing is paramount. This is a testament to the dedication of our entire school community.
We are proud to be a Quaker school where individuals are respected and valued, strive for – and achieve – personal excellence, and make a positive contribution to our changing world. As a result, we have happy and confident pupils who are keen to learn and speak up in a welcoming community.”
With 83% of all A Level pupils achieving grades A*- B in 2024, The Mount is proud of its academic record. This was recognised by being ranked in the ‘Top 10 schools for academic excellence in the North’ by The Sunday Times’ Parent Power league 2024. The Mount was also delighted to be selected as a Finalist in Small Independent School of the Year 2024.
Alongside academic success, The Mount offers a multitude of co-curricular opportunities. Achievements have included coming second in The Great Dance Off last week, winning several netball tournaments, across the region and nationally, and organising PeaceJam events to benefit the local community, and attending Model United Nations in Bath to demonstrate persuasive public speaking skills.
The Mount’s Spring whole school open day takes place this Saturday 8 March 10am-1pm. Come along and meet our new Head, Anna Wilby. Please register here.
