80 schoolgirls from across Yorkshire proved they have the ingenuity, dynamism and teamwork to become the engineers of the future when the popular annual ‘SES Hovercraft Day’ challenge returned to The Mount School in York yesterday (28 February).

The final shipment of LifeBags is being finished off before being shipped to Greece to assist lone child refugees in the refugee processing centres.

School students from across York, inspired by Nobel Peace laureates, are sending hundreds of relief supplies they have collected to help refugee children in Greece.

Congratulations to Millie and Verity in Year 9, who won third place at the York Civic Trust debate in the Guildhall on Wednesday 16 November.  Their assigned topic was “Two hours in York is a waste of time”.

The Big Swim Challenge will take place at The Mount School swimming pool on Sunday 4 December to raise funds for the Special Olympics National Summer Games to be held in Sheffield next year.

The Mount School will once again be featuring in this year’s Illuminating York Festival which takes place this half term week, 26-29 October.

Pupils at The Mount School in York will scoop up six of the creative writing prizes being awarded by the Ilkley Literature Festival this Friday evening in their Young People’s Writing Competitions.

Yesterday, pupils from Year 1 upwards took to the streets of York to recognise both The Mount School’s Quaker heritage within the city and to raise money for Plan UK.
