Junior’s Road Trip to Italy!

Virtual Trip to Italy Kicks Off Key Stage 2 Pupils’ New Learning Adventure.

Key Stage 2 pupils at The Mount Junior School embarked on an extraordinary adventure as they launched their new curriculum topic with a virtual trip to the picturesque landscapes of Italy. Dressed in the vibrant colors of the Italian flag – red, white, and green – the pupils fully immersed themselves in the rich culture and heritage of this captivating country.

The day was packed with exciting activities that transported the pupils to the heart of Italy’s history and art. They delved into the world of high Renaissance art, exploring the works of iconic artists such as Michelangelo. To truly grasp the dedication and skill required, the girls even stepped into Michelangelo’s shoes by creating their own masterpieces on paper, cleverly positioned under the tables. This eye-opening exercise allowed them to appreciate the intricacies of artistry.

However, the highlight of the day was an authentic pizza-making workshop led by our esteemed caterers, Wilson Vale. The pupils were given hands-on experience, learning the art of kneading and stretching pizza dough to perfection. With smiles on their faces, they eagerly selected their favourite toppings, creating delicious pizzas that captured the essence of Italian cuisine.

This virtual trip to Italy was more than just a day of fun and learning; it was a journey of exploration, discovery, and creativity. The pupils not only gained a deeper understanding of Italian culture and art but also acquired practical skills that they will carry with them throughout their lives.

As the Junior School’s ‘Explore, Discover, Create’ Curriculum unfolds, stay tuned for more exciting adventures and valuable learning experiences from our Junior pupils. The Mount Junior school is committed to providing a dynamic and engaging education that sparks curiosity and fosters a love for learning among its students.
