Online Piano Competition
To celebrate the Piano Summer School, The Mount School Music Department launched its first online Piano Competition in 2023. Music enthusiasts and pianists from around the world were invited to submit video entries to the multiple categories. The competition aimed to showcase the exceptional talent of pianists and provide a platform for them to exhibit their skills, without the expense of travel in a friendly yet competitive environment.
The competition was open to pianists of any nationality, from children to pianists up to 35 years old. With an esteemed panel of judges consisting of Musicians from The Mount School and Ackworth School, participants received fair and insightful evaluations of their performances.
To enter the competition pianists were asked to submit a video performance consisting of a solo piano repertoire. The performances were judged by staff from The Mount School and Ackworth School. Performances were marked independently by three judges and a point system was applied for accuracy, interpretation and style, sense of performance and communication and technical prowess. Prizes will be awarded to the competitor with highest points in each category.
In addition to the glory and recognition that winners received, the competition had impressive prizes, ranging from £100 – £300 and there will also be special Scholarship awards for those who wish to study at The Mount School or Ackworth School.
