Do Your ABRSM Exams at The Mount & Other Musical Partnerships Thrive Here

Last week saw The Mount host an exciting day of ABRSM (Music) examinations, not only for our own talented pupils but also for local schools, pupils and music teachers.

With incredible facilities at The Mount: Steinway pianos in every warm-up room and a Steinway Grand in the Recital Room where the exams are held, our school is fast becoming a popular choice for external applicants, who benefit from a friendly welcome, complimentary on-site parking, and wonderful acoustics.

ABRSM Examinations take place at The Mount every term with the next planned for the end of June.

As part of our Quaker ethos, supporting and engaging with the local community is always a top priority.

In the Music Department, one of our piano teachers, Alison Forster, rehearses her community York Junior Youth Choir, each Saturday in the Music Recital Room and they use the hall for their wonderful termly concerts.

School music spaces are also often used by amateur and professional orchestras for rehearsals and masterclasses. For example, a local Suzuki Piano School, led by Jenny Bray, hires department rooms on weeknights and weekends.

Director of Music, Andrew Passmore, said:

“It’s so wonderful to see our incredible music facilities used so regularly by the community and it’s great to see our beautiful Steinways in action all-week round.

We’re always pleased to be able to welcome and engage with local community-based music initiatives which often also open up further musical opportunities to our pupils too.

Do get in touch with any further ideas for musical partnership working.”
