MOSA Socialise in London

The first MOSA Social of 2023 was a great success in London on Wednesday. Old Scholars and retired staff mingled with faces familiar and new at the Drake & Morgan, Kings Cross.

The Old Scholars who gathered were a mix of 1970s Leavers to ‘Noughties’ Leavers. They were joined by retired staff, Sally Hebron, Sarah Shiels, Louise Williams and Sally Knowles. “I came here tonight to see you!” exclaimed one delighted Old Scholar on seeing her former teacher. The chance to reconnect was just as heart-warming for the retired staff.

It was so lovely to meet the girls. Some of them I hadn’t seen since they left school.

Principal David Griffiths also enjoyed meeting everyone. “The Old Scholars are so impressive. What fantastic women. They have a genuine fondness for the school, as well as deep appreciation for how our Quaker ethos and all-girl environment benefitted them,” he said.

As well as catching up and trading stories, conversations were reflective. The transformative power of The Mount’s special blend of pastoral care was gratefully noted with warmth and good humour by Old Scholars.

I had an excellent evening, it was so good to see everyone again and to meet David.

It was so nice to meet old friends and new people as well.

Future MOSA Socials will be held through the year, with dates being confirmed in Lagos (February) and Hong Kong (March). Further dates will be confirmed for Abu Dhabi, Auckland, Basel, Beijing, Dubai, Edinburgh, Jeddah, Lagos, Manchester, Melbourne, Moscow, Munich, New York, Oxford, Paris, Sydney, Toronto, Vancouver and of course Olde York.
