The Sunday Times Newspaper declares York – home of The Mount, the best place to live in the UK.

With its heritage dating back to Roman times York is a city steeped in history and tradition. However, it is also a thriving city with cafes, destination restaurants and innovative companies — plus the fastest internet in Britain. Transport links make York easy to reach from across the country, just 2 hours by train to London. The article highlights York’s ambitions to be one of the best-connected hubs in Europe.  The outstanding education offered in York including The Mount and two Universities were also highlighted as a reason for York’s success.

‘We are delighted that the city of York has been declared the best place to live.  We are very proud to be situated in such a great city. The Mount is a 10-minute walk from the train station and 15 minutes to the city centre. We regularly visit York’s museums and theatres as part of our curriculum. Our Year 7 pupils all take part in our ‘Investigating York’ activity that allows them to explore York and discover more about its heritage. For our Boarding Students York is their home. They regularly enjoy the thriving culture, the great restaurants and of course the fantastic shops during weekend activities.’
