Boarders had a special treat on the weekend. Mr Griffiths took the girls to the Barbican to hear the York Guildhall Orchestra play Beethoven’s Overture to King Stephen, Piano Concerto No 1 and Tschakovsky’s Symphony No 5 in E minor.
The YGO regularly rehearses at The Mount and features our own Clerk to Committee, Margaret Bryan, on the double bass.
The girls loved the experience.
“I really enjoyed it! It was very emotional and dramatic!” – Johanna (Year 10)
“It was fun! It was interesting to hear classical music first-hand and not over the radio or Spotify. It was a nice thing to experience, and it was also my first time!”- Elisha (Year 10)
“It was inspirational! I was really motivated to play my (piano) pieces once we got back from the concert. The harmonies made my heart love!“- Dennisa (Year 10)
