Nobel Laureate Films

Mount families have the opportunity, during the Summer term, to enjoy at school a family film night with a difference!

Thanks to our involvement with the international PeaceJam Foundation, The Mount has access to a very special series of films about the lives of the Nobel Peace Laureates. Each Friday after the end of the School day, families have the opportunity to join us in School Hall to watch one of the films.

Where possible, they will also be able to enjoy a light supper before the screening. Supper is £6 per person; Mount pupils dine at no added cost. Sign up here.

This week’s Nobel Legacy Series is Oscar Arias: Without a Shot Fired (2017). This feature-length documentary examines the life of former Costa Rican President and Nobel Peace Laureate Oscar Arias, and his work toward ending the arms race. Film starts 4pm.

Without a Shot Fired is the story of a tiny country that made a decision to do something that no other country had ever done; it abolished its army and declared peace to the world. This is the story of a young boy who grew up in that country and how he ended up challenging, and sometimes even convincing, the greatest powers in the world to follow Costa Rica’s example.
