The Music Department hosted the second of the Spring Term Music Recital series yesterday.
Yuki (College II) and Jasmine (College I) performed pieces inspired by Chinese music. Yuki opened the recital with a piano piece entitled Sunny Day. Jasmine performed Rainy Day on the pipa, a traditional Chinese instrument which she first began playing when she was 6 years of age. The recital finished with Yuki playing Fisherman’s Song on the flute, accompanied by Mrs Derbyshire on the piano.
Earlier in the day, Jasmine had performed Rainy Day for the Early Years girls, who were enthralled by her talent. “I loved it!” said Saoirse. The girls said they also wanted to learn how to play a musical instrument.
The final Recital for Spring Term will be next Thursday lunchtime.
